Assign a catalog, searchable tags, authoring version, and a preview that shows scale and orientation. Keep the source blend file in an indexed asset library and test placement from a separate clean file.
7. Choose an export policy by modifier

Can Data Transfer Modifier safely follow Armature Modifier?
